Why Do We Need a DSA Academy?

Each year, thousands of construction projects are submitted to DSA by school districts and community colleges. These projects—most designed by private architects—are reviewed by DSA staff to ensure code compliance, then guided through the construction process by DSA-certified Project Inspectors.

From start to finish, many people are involved in a school building project: school employees, private architects and engineers, DSA staff, construction managers, project inspectors, and others.

The DSA Academy hopes that by bringing these individuals together and training them on California’s codes and regulations—as well as the application of those codes and regulations—we can create consistency between all parties. Consistency that will result in safer schools, built more quickly, more efficiently, and more cost-effectively.
